It needs to be pretty clear since it is for a Graduate College Application. This award recognizes both the student’s achievement and the advisor’s contribution to the Dissertation. However, I think what I usually see if this goes in the footer after your signature is the word “candidate. I’ll check about that, and I will keep looking.

I think the most natural translation of that phrase would be “Doctoral student” or “PhD student,” if you are getting your Wordrwference, or “Master’s student,” if you are getting a Master’s. I don’t know whether this will work for you Where is the person applying to?
